These are definately good starting tips for someone with a new website, I would ad to your second point, to use variations of your keywords, eg: Jackson Photography for All Your &lt;b&gt;Photographic&lt;/b&gt; Needs: for example. Since you never can tell what people will search for having the alternate words there will help. 

I often steer people away from using their business name or website name as a keywords, basically becuase they will probably do well for them anyway, but the main reason is that if someone knew your business name they would just search for it, same with the domain name. If a business also lists there website in a directory like the yellowpages, they tyellowpages listing will almost always outrank them in searches for their business name. 

Just my 2 cents worth.
